A brief introduction to COMMON GROUND: the legacy of the CCC, the work still ahead, and the question of who gets paid and who gets a say.
About the film
The Civilian Conservation Corps left trails, forests and public landscapes, alongside a history of segregation and exclusion. COMMON GROUND brings that inheritance into conversation with a proposed contemporary corps, CCC2. Through archival images and present-day conservation work, the film asks what a fair bargain would require: reliable pay, safe work, shared decisions and care that lasts. It also asks whether supporting existing workers would do more.
CCC2 is a proposal to test. The contemporary footage depicts existing conservation programs.
